The "Maryknoll" style of teaching.
Yesterday, Monday, 11/25, we were able to give the 7th grade students of Wuhan Changqing no. 1 Middle School a "Taste of Maryknoll". Ms. Frank first went over weather & climate with the students. A video describing the vocabulary was shown. Students learned vocabulary relating to weather, such as snowing, raining, windy, etc. Then the students volunteered to describe the weather in the four seasons in Wuhan, China.
Finally, as is typical in the Maryknoll classroom, GROUP WORK with iPads. Students were given specific cities in the United States. Ms. Frank uploaded videos describing major US cities. Students were also given books to look at pictures of the weather in those specific cities.
The end product of the group work was a keynote presentation going over the weather & climate of an American city in the four different seasons. Students used pictures and short English sentences to describe the weather. Overall, it was a great start to a second and final week here at Wuhan Changqing no. 1 Middle School.

This past Tuesday (11/26) and today (11/27) we saw more of that "Maryknoll" learning style. Groups were formed to produce a keynote detailing the weather in each season for a specific American city. The students get excited working in groups and are eager to use their English skills. Students are engaged with the lesson and are applying their new knowledge about the English language regarding weather & climate. Below are some videos and photos of the past two days.
